In the 15th minute, Salamón Gajardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Rigoberto Belarmo put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Savier Cisneros. In the 19th minute, Quim Fell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Los Pelientos's goalkeeper Genaro Monasterio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Salamón Gajardo. Genaro Monasterio was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Constantino Detmer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 25 minute of play. After having played for 29 minutes, Rigoberto Belarmo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Pelientos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rigoberto Belarmo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Markus Gumucio in the 33rd minute of play forced El Famoso River Plate's goalkeeper Savier Cisneros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34thth minute of the game Rigoberto Belarmo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El Famoso River Plate's Savier Cisneros was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Quim Fell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Los Pelientos's supporters rose to their feet, but Quim Fell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Savier Cisneros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 37 minutes of play, Los Pelientos's Rigoberto Belarmo made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Savier Cisneros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Savier Cisneros didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rigoberto Belarmo went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Quim Fell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Los Pelientos's Quim Fell got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Los Pelientos were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rigoberto Belarmo to make the kick off. The referee felt a red card was in order, 51 minutes into the game, when Antonio Mandacovic put in a rough tackle. In the 50th minute, one of Los Pelientos:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Los Pelientos. In the 53rd minute there was a penalty for El Famoso River Plate. Siluna Otero stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Genaro Monasterio. 3-3. In the 58th minute, Salamón Gajardo made a precise shot to the right of Genaro Monasterio. Los Pelientos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Salamón Gajardo in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Genaro Monasterio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 65 minutes, the score became 4-4 when Rigoberto Belarmo sped through El Famoso River Plate's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Savier Cisneros. After 68 minutes of play, El Famoso River Plate's Raymundo Najera made it 5-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Genaro Monasterio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Severo Page kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. The supporters of Los Pelientos booed when El Famoso River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zelipe Millán didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Quim Fell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rigoberto Belarmo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 85thth minute, Savier Cisneros skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Rigoberto Belarmo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Savier Cisneros having to interfere. In the 90th minute, Markus Gumucio fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post.
