Quintín Wheeler hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Rolando Villegas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jose Ramon Manso de Velasco in the 18th minute of the match. Baudelio Ondegardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Rolando Villegas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Universidad de Chile getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Florencio Lastarria hit a great ball. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Miguel Soruco the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Universidad de Chile protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Miguel Soruco had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 32 played minutes Universidad de Chile got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Soruco. After a defensive mix-up in Universidad de Chile's zone, Armando Neil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Villegas came out of the goal and Armando Neil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Quintín Wheeler received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Esteban José Valderrama came out and tried to block the shot, but Quintín Wheeler slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 36th minute. If Aurelio Riveros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Salbatore Alejo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Esteban José Valderrama came out and tried to block the shot, but Salbatore Alejo slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 42nd minute. A collision led to Universidad de Chile getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Salbatore Alejo hit a great ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Quintín Wheeler made the kick off in the second half. Universidad de Chile's Rolando Villegas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baudelio Ondegardo in the 51st minute of play. Quintín Wheeler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esteban José Valderrama having to interfere. Florencio Lastarria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Salbatore Alejo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baudelio Ondegardo in the 68th minute of play forced Universidad de Chile's goalkeeper Rolando Villegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Tiquima's Baudelio Ondegardo got a free kick in the 77th minute. Esteban José Valderrama showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quintín Wheeler in the 81st minute of the match. After 84 minutes, Normando Recalde mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Universidad de Chile and the Tiquima players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Universidad de Chile booed when Tiquima was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baudelio Ondegardo didn't get a good kick on the ball.
