After having played for 5 minutes, Zacarías Santander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barriles's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zacarías Santander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lorencio Abbatte in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro José Balboa saved Barriles from getting behind. 11 minutes into the match, Barriles's goalkeeper Pedro José Balboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erasmo Stens. Jonathan Amthauer hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Pedro José Balboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erasmo Stens in the 17th minute. Erasmo Stens in the 22ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Pedro José Balboa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Erasmo Stens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Pedro José Balboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erasmo Stens in the 24th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Juan Carlos Urmeneta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barriles's supporters rose to their feet, but Juan Carlos Urmeneta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ariel Escandón breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Juan Carlos Urmeneta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Ariel Escandón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zacarías Santander was the one to do the kick off. But to his dismay, Lorencio Abbatte quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Pedro José Balboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo Stens, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute.
