Anselmo Granada made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Tancredo Manzur sent off a good shot on target. After 6 minutes, Luis Eduardo Arcaya made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Centro's Pietro Diestre tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 10th minute of the game. One of Club Deportes La Serena:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Centro:s goal. Uriel Zelada shot the penalty kick right outside the post. If Carlos Martin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Club Deportes La Serena's Luis Eduardo Arcaya got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Conrado Portusagasti got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Martin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Anselmo Granada tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anselmo Granada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Martin in the 27th minute of play. Anselmo Granada was a little too slow when Carlos Martin got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 28th minute. The score was now 1-1. Club Deportes La Serena's Aníbal Chandia got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 34 played minutes, Club Deportes La Serena's Adelmo Segarra shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pietro Diestre came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Club Deportes La Serena reached it. Club Deportes La Serena's Anselmo Granada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Martin in the 37th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luis Javier Burgos during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Club Deportes La Serena booed when Centro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Javier Burgos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Centro walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
