In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Copiapo FC's goalkeeper Eriberto Oses, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Copiapo FC's Fulco Gómez got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 38th minute Roy Tolhauzsen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eriberto Oses saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Copiapo FC's Eriberto Oses played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Podador Ovalle in the 41st minute of play. Podador Ovalle's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eriberto Oses read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
