Mario Jesus Mosca started the match with the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Rafael Lea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Universidad Católica's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafael Lea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valerio Cattalán breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Valerio Cattalán made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Vinos Llana sent off a good shot on target. If Manuelo Bafalluy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute, Mario Jesus Mosca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 25 minutes, Mario Jesus Mosca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Colupito FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mario Jesus Mosca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the last second Valerio Cattalán throw himself and got hold of the ball when Rafael Lea in the 31stth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. A collision led to Colupito FC getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Manuel Foretic hit a great ball. Rafael Lea struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Valerio Cattalán didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Universidad Católica. Vinos Llana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valerio Cattalán having to interfere. 36 minutes into the game, Universidad Católica's Rafael Lea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valerio Cattalán made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Rafael Lea kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Valerio Cattalán. That made the score 2-0 in the 41 minute of play. Virgilio Ferrari came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Colupito FC's Mario Jesus Mosca. But to his dismay, Mario Jesus Mosca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rafael Lea made a kick off. Valerio Cattalán made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vinos Llana in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes into the game, Rafael Lea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Universidad Católica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Colupito FC the free kick. Rafael Lea kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Rafael Lea scored 3-1 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Valerio Cattalán, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Universidad Católica's Virgilio Ferrari proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Universidad Católica from getting a goal against them. After 70 minutes of play, Universidad Católica's Vinos Llana made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valerio Cattalán was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 73 minutes, Xabel Moscoso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Colupito FC and the Universidad Católica players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Universidad Católica booed when Colupito FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xabel Moscoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute of the match Miguel Hernánde Budinich sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Valerio Cattalán skillfully saved the ball. Virgilio Ferrari made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Manuelo Bafalluy sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Lea in the 83rd minute of play forced Colupito FC's goalkeeper Valerio Cattalán to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Rafael Lea notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Colupito FC's Valerio Cattalán. Valerio Cattalán was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Valerio Cattalán showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinos Llana in the 89th minute of the match. Valerio Cattalán didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vinos Llana went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. Romildo Dueñas's late challenge caught a Colupito FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Romildo Dueñas helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Universidad Católica getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Romildo Dueñas hit a great ball. Universidad Católica's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
