The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the U.DE.CHILE defense, Romano Diban kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Esteban Eyzaguirre. The U.DE.CHILE fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Esteban Eyzaguirre should have stopped the shot. When Gerardo Balart fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U.DE.CHILE's protests and gave Gerardo Balart a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 played minutes U.DE.CHILE got a freekick which was hit by Gerardo Balart. When Ulises Avilés came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Tirua fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulises Avilés couldn't finish the play. In the 18th minute, Ulises Avilés got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Esteban Eyzaguirre took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulises Avilés, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ondino Palma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Xalvador Alpi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ulises Avilés recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jerardo Zamorano lost his temper 45 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 45 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Tirua! After the first half Tirua were leading 2-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Baldomero Ostermann charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Baldomero Ostermann the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Tirua booed when U.DE.CHILE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baldomero Ostermann didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind U.DE.CHILE's goalkeeper Esteban Eyzaguirre, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Tirua's Ulises Avilés in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U.DE.CHILE's goalie prevented a goal. If Ulises Avilés had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Romano Diban might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Esteban Eyzaguirre. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Romano Diban ran back to his position shaking his head. Guntademaro Olaso kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Ulises Avilés recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tirua's Francisco Alberto Disselkoen was substituted for Florencio Alava. When Romano Diban came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Tirua fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romano Diban couldn't finish the play. Esteban Eyzaguirre was out of position in the 88 minute of play, and Ulises Avilés capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ulises Avilés really showed his touch with that goal: 2-5. Romano Diban struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Esteban Eyzaguirre didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tirua. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ulises Avilés in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Esteban Eyzaguirre saved U.DE.CHILE from getting behind. Tirua's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
