An unexpectedly hard shot by Henrico Ardiles in the 15th minute of play forced Chivi Changas FC's goalkeeper Jose Manuel Allende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Futalelfu FC booed when Chivi Changas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Leroy didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute of the match Bairon Guajardo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jose Manuel Allende skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Maurilio Buchanan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Futalelfu FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Maurilio Buchanan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jose Manuel Allende breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Maurilio Buchanan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Luis Iribarren in the 40th minute of play forced Chivi Changas FC's goalkeeper Jose Manuel Allende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bairon Guajardo to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Futalelfu FC were awarded a corner. Bairon Guajardo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Futalelfu FC's Bairon Guajardo to fire away a dangerous shot which Jose Manuel Allende despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jose Manuel Allende stood somewhat misplaced when Bairon Guajardo came free in front of goal and shot 1-2 to the left of him in the 54 minute. After a defensive mix-up in Chivi Changas FC's zone, Maurilio Buchanan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jose Manuel Allende came out of the goal and Maurilio Buchanan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 60th match minute, Futalelfu FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aureo Blanco to maneuver through the defense. Jose Manuel Allende made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henrico Ardiles in the 69th minute. If Maurilio Buchanan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Bairon Guajardo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jose Manuel Allende was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. With an all-out effort, Futalelfu FC's Jose Manuel Allende threw himself towards the right post 81 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Aureo Blanco, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The crowd rose to their feet as Futalelfu FC's Bairon Guajardo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jose Manuel Allende. That made the score 1-3 after 82 minutes of play. Maurilio Buchanan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 88th minute, Maurilio Buchanan made a precise shot to the right of Jose Manuel Allende. Chivi Changas FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. Xaime Requena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miren Canal in the 93rd minute of play.
