C.D Coronel Jose Varela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aaron Parrochia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Abraham Patrickson might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Germán Oropesa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abraham Patrickson ran back to his position shaking his head. Ariano Lecaros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The C.D Coronel Jose Varela players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Lonquimai were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Franco Liendo to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Lonquimai's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Suarez came free, but Norino Narváez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Albin Jaramillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. C.D Coronel Jose Varela's Germán Oropesa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albin Jaramillo in the 63rd minute of play. In the 63rd match minute, C.D Coronel Jose Varela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mauro Suarez to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Aaron Parrochia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Germán Oropesa. That made the score 1-4 in the 70 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Lonquimai's zone, Ariano Lecaros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Norino Narváez came out of the goal and Ariano Lecaros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.D Coronel Jose Varela's goalkeeper Germán Oropesa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Albin Jaramillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 90 minutes into the match, C.D Coronel Jose Varela's goalkeeper Germán Oropesa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aaron Parrochia. Abundio Buitrago hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Aaron Parrochia in the 98thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Germán Oropesa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Lonquimai eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
