Mechanical Bulls's Soriano De la Maza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Constantino Gilberto in the 17th minute of play. Soriano De la Maza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Constantino Gilberto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Xabel Iriart managed to get in a good position for a shot. Universidad de Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Xabel Iriart was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Soriano De la Maza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 22 played minutes Mechanical Bulls got a freekick which was hit by Nicasio Felip. Mechanical Bulls's Albert Bolaños got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Xabel Iriart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Soriano De la Maza having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Ariel Ibáñez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mechanical Bulls's Soriano De la Maza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Constantino Gilberto in the 42nd minute of play. Soriano De la Maza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Constantino Gilberto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 0-1 became the score in the 47th minute when Xabel Iriart elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Edilberto Espiñeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Bayron Casos came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Mechanical Bulls fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bayron Casos couldn't finish the play. Demesio Carmona tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Mechanical Bulls booed when Universidad de Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Theobald Pantoja didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mechanical Bulls's Ariel Ibáñez couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 64th minute. Constantino Gilberto in the 80thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Soriano De la Maza, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 82nd minute, José Marcelo Mazeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 90th minute, Edilberto Espiñeira made a precise shot to the right of Demesio Carmona. Universidad de Chile's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Constantino Gilberto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 98th minute of the match, but Soriano De la Maza made a huge save.
