Justo Millar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Martin Barcoj's late challenge caught a Universidad Catolica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Martin Barcoj helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Universidad Catolica booed when Dumestre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Barcoj didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute of the match Danilo Quintano sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Salomón Octavio skillfully saved the ball. After 23 minutes of play Universidad Catolica's Roque Jozic was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Dumestre getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Eleuterio Johnson hit a great ball. Martin Barcoj struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Ferrando Leal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dumestre. The supporters of Dumestre booed when Universidad Catolica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ignacio González didn't get a good kick on the ball. Universidad Catolica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Universidad Catolica's Ferrando Leal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Justo Millar in the 47th minute of play.

If Genaro Jullian had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ferrando Leal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justo Millar in the 54th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Universidad Catolica's Donato Manguyague got a free kick in the 54th minute. Rollo Serna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferrando Leal having to interfere. Ferrando Leal was a little too slow when Justo Millar got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 64th minute. The score was now 0-2. After having played for 82 minutes, Damario Bruce managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dumestre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damario Bruce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 86 minutes into the game, Xosé Zuburu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Universidad Catolica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dumestre the free kick. In the 86th minute, Xosé Zuburu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Universidad Catolica getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Roque Noriega hit a great ball. Universidad Catolica's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Justo Millar 93 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-4. Dumestre played a much better game than Universidad Catolica and deserved their victory. The Universidad Catolica players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
