The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Leopoldo Longa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Plácido Munita went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. With 11 minutes on the clock, José Antonio Felip commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 17 played minutes Talcarehue got a freekick which was hit by Pinone Pacull. Hermenegildo Gazitúa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Xacobo Zumaeta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hermenegildo Gazitúa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xacobo Zumaeta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tancredo Ibáñez, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Plácido Munita struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Leopoldo Longa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Talcarehue. After a defensive mix-up in Talcarehue's zone, Hermenegildo Gazitúa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Xacobo Zumaeta came out of the goal and Hermenegildo Gazitúa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 43 minutes, Hermenegildo Gazitúa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salamanca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hermenegildo Gazitúa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Salamanca getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Filomeno Didier hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hermenegildo Gazitúa to make the kick off. When Talcarehue's Plácido Munita in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The supporters of Salamanca booed when Talcarehue was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Luis Caamaño didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Talcarehue had played much better football throughout.
