The crowd rose to their feet as Fidelio Vidma kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Félix Faverau. That made the score 2-0 in the 17 minute of play. In the 23rdth minute of the game Dariusz Koprowski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Quitrico's Severo Eastman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 24th minute of the match, Fidelio Vidma got a very nice opportunity to score, but Félix Faverau was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience was convinced that Dariusz Koprowski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Severo Eastman was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. 29 minutes into the game, one of Colo-Colo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Cristóbal Otarola made the kick off in the second half. Colo-Colo's Clemencín Gaviño got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Félix Faverau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermenegildo Bastic in the 58th minute of the match. Márton Horváth's late challenge caught a Quitrico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Colo-Colo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristóbal Otarola was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
