In the 17th minute Gabino Vidma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luis Javier Bacigalupo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulín Martinic made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Dechent in the 22nd minute of play. Evaristo Acasuso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Luis Javier Bacigalupo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Saturnín Rencoret struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. When Amador Canal fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 36th minute, Saturnín Rencoret hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulín Martinic came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Huillinlebu FC's Geraldo Montenegro. But to his dismay, Geraldo Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pío Pedemonte made a kick off. Moraleda AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gabino Vidma in the 53rd minute. The corner led Moraleda AFC's Gabino Vidma to fire away a dangerous shot which Luis Javier Bacigalupo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If Elías Florido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Pío Pedemonte recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paulín Martinic made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Geraldo Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Moraleda AFC's Paulín Martinic got control of the ball when Bruno Dechent tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Evaristo Acasuso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luis Javier Bacigalupo was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. Moraleda AFC's Paulín Martinic proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Moraleda AFC from getting a goal against them. Luis Javier Bacigalupo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pío Pedemonte's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Evaristo Acasuso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute.
