Maipu FC's Lucio Bañados shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 17th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Norberto Abuauad but with some difficulty. In the 21st minute Aureliano Santibañez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Estebano Berau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hilario Huechun in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Estebano Berau saved Maipu FC from getting behind. With a little luck, Club O´Higgins's Norberto Abuauad got control of the ball when Maurín Lagunas tried to sneak it across the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Club O´Higgins's goal looked a bit too open when Higinio Solorzano came free, but Norberto Abuauad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Aureliano Santibañez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club O´Higgins's supporters rose to their feet, but Aureliano Santibañez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Estebano Berau breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 36 minutes into the match, Maipu FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hilario Huechun came free, but Estebano Berau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute of the match, Maurín Lagunas got a very nice opportunity to score, but Norberto Abuauad was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After having played for 49 minutes, Higinio Solorzano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maipu FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Higinio Solorzano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Club O´Higgins's Norberto Abuauad played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Higinio Solorzano in the 54th minute of play. The supporters of Maipu FC booed when Club O´Higgins was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aureliano Santibañez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Higinio Solorzano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zenón Aranda during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Zenón Aranda hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Maurín Lagunas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Norberto Abuauad read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. In the 64th match minute, Club O´Higgins was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zacarías Herzl to maneuver through the defense. 65 minutes into the match, Maurín Lagunas notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Club O´Higgins's Norberto Abuauad. Norberto Abuauad was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Higinio Solorzano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Norberto Abuauad having to interfere. Norberto Abuauad took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Higinio Solorzano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 80 played minutes Club O´Higgins got a freekick which was hit by Zenón Aranda. In the 81st minute, Maurín Lagunas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Higinio Solorzano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 87th minute by Aureliano Santibañez got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Maurín Lagunas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Club O´Higgins's Hilario Huechun got a free kick in the 97th minute.
