After a defensive mix-up in Huaquen's zone, Joel Passi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luis Alberto Pastene came out of the goal and Joel Passi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sotomo AFC's Oriol Redondo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Arias in the 14th minute of play. The supporters of Huaquen booed when Sotomo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Alberto Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 15 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sotomo AFC! When the match had been going on for 16 minutes, Huaquen's Demetrio Oteiza got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Oriol Redondo. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joel Passi in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luis Alberto Pastene prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luis Alberto Pastene showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Passi, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Anastasio Celedón blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luis Alberto Pastene having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Marcelo Arias kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Oriol Redondo. That made the score 2-0 in the 31 minute of play. If Eulalio Arellano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th match minute, Huaquen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ysmael Jory to maneuver through the defense. Luis Alberto Pastene showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anastasio Celedón, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Joel Passi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Luis Alberto Pastene tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anastasio Celedón sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sotomo AFC's Joel Passi got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joel Passi in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luis Alberto Pastene prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joel Passi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 49th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joel Passi to strike the kick off in the second half. Huaquen's defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when Anastasio Celedón scored to the left of an out of position Luis Alberto Pastene, making the score, 2-1. Oriol Redondo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Anastasio Celedón sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Huaquen were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Sotomo AFC for a fine match.
