In the 6th minute Gilberto Erwenne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naelio Escerza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristóbal Ayala charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristóbal Ayala the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th match minute, Club Deportes Cobreloa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristóbal Ayala to maneuver through the defense. Abdul Ceron did an outstanding performance 9 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 0-1 to the right of an irritated Próspero Chaparro in the goal. After 20 played minutes, Llaillay FC's Emiliano Barros shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Próspero Chaparro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Llaillay FC reached it. Naelio Escerza was a little too slow when Gilberto Erwenne got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 1-1. Gilberto Erwenne received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Naelio Escerza came out and tried to block the shot, but Gilberto Erwenne slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 28th minute. Jesus Calzada received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Próspero Chaparro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute Jesus Calzada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Próspero Chaparro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Club Deportes Cobreloa's zone, Jesus Calzada stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Próspero Chaparro came out of the goal and Jesus Calzada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jesus Calzada made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Erwenne in the 53rd minute of play forced Llaillay FC's goalkeeper Naelio Escerza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Club Deportes Cobreloa's Próspero Chaparro got control of the ball when Alexandre Evar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gilberto Erwenne's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Naelio Escerza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. After 65 minutes, Abdul Ceron mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Llaillay FC and the Club Deportes Cobreloa players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 65th minute, Abdul Ceron hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gilberto Erwenne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naelio Escerza having to interfere. 80 minutes into the match, Club Deportes Cobreloa's Mohamed Alcocer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Naelio Escerza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gilberto Erwenne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Naelio Escerza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
