Lomas's Leonides Sierra got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Leonides Sierra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valiente Quintero was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Hugo Orlando Soria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yoel Pontigo in the 25th minute of play. Valiente Quintero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victor Hugo Pirola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Victor Hugo Pirola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valiente Quintero having to interfere. Hugo Orlando Soria made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Mario Salazar sent off a good shot on target. If Leonides Sierra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 47th minute, Alexandro Oxman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maitenes FC's Valiente Quintero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Hugo Pirola in the 49th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The wind increased when Victor Hugo Pirola made the kick off in the second half. Hugo Orlando Soria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yoel Pontigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. The supporters of Maitenes FC booed when Lomas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Demetrio Ruedi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valiente Quintero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonides Sierra in the 61st minute. After a rather tough play, Lomas's Jacob Tejada got a free kick in the 78th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mario Salazar in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugo Orlando Soria prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leonides Sierras short, quick shot in the 82ndth minute got Valiente Quintero to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Edelmiro Leese's late challenge caught a Lomas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edelmiro Leese helped the player get up and apologised. In the 84th match minute, Maitenes FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edelmiro Leese to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute of the match, Victor Hugo Pirola tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Valiente Quintero saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a defensive mix-up in Maitenes FC's zone, Leonides Sierra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valiente Quintero came out of the goal and Leonides Sierra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Yoel Pontigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Orlando Soria having to interfere. When Mario Salazar came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Maitenes FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mario Salazar couldn't finish the play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
