Spectators: 6708 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1708, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Alexis Buzeta kicked off to start the match. Héctor Liendo came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Universidad de Chile's Alexis Buzeta. But to his dismay, Alexis Buzeta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Benito Pairoa struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Jordi Srain didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varrillar FC. If Benito Pairoa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the game, one of Universidad de Chile:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Jordi Srain went to the wrong direction when Bermejo Detmer was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 15th minute, Flavio Fischer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 22 minutes, Jordi Srain successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Félix Feres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Jordi Srain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th minute of the match, Benito Pairoa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jordi Srain saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Archibaldo Calvetti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexis Buzeta might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Héctor Liendo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alexis Buzeta ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 39thth minute of the game Archibaldo Calvetti who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Varrillar FC's Héctor Liendo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 41 minutes, Félix Feres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varrillar FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Félix Feres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benito Pairoa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jordi Srain read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. In the 48th minute, Félix Feres got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Universidad de Chile were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Benito Pairoa made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Universidad de Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Félix Feres came free, but Jordi Srain reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jordi Srain came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by Varrillar FC's Benito Pairoa. But to his dismay, Benito Pairoa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Félix Feres might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jordi Srain. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Félix Feres ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benito Pairoa in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jordi Srain prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 74th match minute, Universidad de Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roberto Soloaga to maneuver through the defense. Universidad de Chile's Jordi Srain played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benito Pairoa in the 78th minute of play. Benito Pairoa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Varrillar FC booed when Universidad de Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Blanco Ducoing didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute, Bermejo Detmer sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Universidad de Chile's Jordi Srain didn't even have to move. Sansón Sanabria recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 93rd minute, Universidad de Chile's Alexis Buzeta dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. The Universidad de Chile supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Universidad de Chile would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
