Cartago AFC's Erasmo Aceituno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geofredo Illanes in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Romildo Grille ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erasmo Aceituno was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 26 minutes into the game, when Francisco Alberto Bennet put in a rough tackle. The referee gave Buill a penalty, 28 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ricardo Higuera, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cartago AFC's Erasmo Aceituno. 0-2. A collision led to Buill getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Abel Abufhele hit a great ball. After the first half Buill were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Erasmo Aceituno made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romildo Grille in the 53rd minute. Geofredo Illanes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erasmo Aceituno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. If Romildo Grille had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nicasio Boonen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Jordi Albarracin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardo Higuera was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 80th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 81st minute, Nicasio Boonen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Geofredo Illanes might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erasmo Aceituno. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geofredo Illanes ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 95th match minute, Cartago AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicasio Boonen to maneuver through the defense. The Buill players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
