When Domenico Somarriva fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Huanta's protests and gave Domenico Somarriva a yellow card for diving instead. In the 14th minute, Gerardo Sudi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 16th minute Miguel Andia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zebulón Engdahl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Salsipuedes FC booed when Huanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeo Carreño didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Sansón Undona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sansón Undona took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Franco Gazitúa. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sansón Undona got free with Franco Gazitúa in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Salsipuedes FC getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Edgar Verdejo hit a great ball. Amadeo Carreño sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Miguel Andia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zebulón Engdahl read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. The Salsipuedes FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Huanta's performance. The match ended with a win for Huanta.
