Desiderio Ponce was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 19 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Universidad Catolica's Desiderio Ponce got a free kick in the 19th minute. Javieranos F.C's Arif Nihat Erencan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hüsnü Besim in the 26th minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, Universidad Catolica's Guillermo Bolocco nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arif Nihat Erencan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Jardel das Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Saturnino Birila showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xulián Polhemus in the 35th minute of the match. Hüsnü Besim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Arif Nihat Erencan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 43 minutes, Xulián Mason managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Javieranos F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xulián Mason was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Saturnino Birila took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xulián Polhemus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Xulián Mason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Xulián Polhemus was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Xulián Mason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saturnino Birila saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hüsnü Besim's late challenge caught a Javieranos F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hüsnü Besim helped the player get up and apologised. After 54 played minutes Universidad Catolica got a freekick which was hit by Hüsnü Besim. Arif Nihat Erencan was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jardel das Neves showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 58 minute of play. Arif Nihat Erencan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Raúl Berguecio, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Disvandis Bastarrica hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Cerilo Huechun's late challenge caught a Javieranos F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The supporters of Javieranos F.C booed when Universidad Catolica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cerilo Huechun didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Universidad Catolica walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
