The referee ignored Universidad Catolica's protests and gave Guillermo Bolocco a yellow card for diving instead. Guillermo Bolocco hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Sal Tarin charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sal Tarin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience was convinced that 齐庭希's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Saturnino Birila was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. The supporters of Universidad Catolica booed when Sporting quilpue was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sal Tarin didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Codruț Paraschivescu in the 72nd minute of play forced Sporting quilpue's goalkeeper Elias Evar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Universidad Catolica's zone, 齐庭希 stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Saturnino Birila came out of the goal and 齐庭希 tried to chip the ball over his head. Elias Evar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillermo Bolocco in the 83rd minute of the match. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elias Evar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 齐庭希 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Saturnino Birila having to make a save.
