With a little luck, Concepción's Urtsín Waugh got control of the ball when Mario Arechavala tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 21 minutes into the game, when Godofredo Mozo put in a rough tackle. Universidad Católica's supporters rose to their feet, but Remicio Amaya was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
