With a little luck, Malachi's Dwain Dillon got control of the ball when Kristopher Roman tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Eusebio Novak fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Malachi's protests and gave Eusebio Novak a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Malachi's Eusebio Novak got a free kick in the 4th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Jonas Blackman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thornhill's supporters rose to their feet, but Jonas Blackman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dwain Dillon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Loyd Vadeboncoeur came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Malachi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Loyd Vadeboncoeur couldn't finish the play. Loyd Vadeboncoeur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donte Darling having to interfere. Dwain Dillon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonas Blackman in the 22nd minute of the match. Felix Triplett's late challenge caught a Malachi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Triplett helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Malachi booed when Thornhill was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Triplett didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ambrose Lemons had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 27 minutes, Cory Wooten mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Thornhill and the Malachi players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cory Wooten kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. A collision led to Thornhill getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Bradly Hewitt hit a great ball. After 31st play minutes Kristopher Roman shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Dwain Dillon and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Thornhill's goalkeeper Donte Darling, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ambrose Lemons to strike the kick off in the second half. Thornhill's Kristopher Roman got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 56th minute, Jonas Blackman made a precise shot to the right of Dwain Dillon. Malachi's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Dwain Dillon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonas Blackman in the 64th minute of play. Thornhill's Donte Darling played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ambrose Lemons in the 67th minute of play. After 76 minutes, Val Burkett mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malachi and the Thornhill players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 76th match minute, Malachi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Val Burkett to maneuver through the defense. Garry Heard, 77 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 84 minutes into the game, Bruno Dufresne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Malachi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Thornhill the free kick. He walked away shaking his head. For all the effort they put into the match, the Malachi players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Thornhill.
