In the 15th match minute, Creighton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harland Castaneda to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Elmira's zone, Preston Summers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donnell Altman came out of the goal and Preston Summers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. René Bilodeau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alonso Mack in the 29th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Creighton defense, Noble Ashby kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of René Bilodeau. The Creighton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that René Bilodeau should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alonso Mack in the 35th minute of play forced Creighton's goalkeeper René Bilodeau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alonso Mack fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without René Bilodeau having to interfere. If Noble Ashby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the match, Creighton's goal looked a bit too open when Alonso Mack came free, but René Bilodeau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elmira's Noble Ashby got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Preston Summers was the one to do the kick off. After 53 minutes, Noah Howard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Elmira and the Creighton players grew even worse after the yellow card. Noah Howard kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Elmira's goal looked a bit too open when Valentin Sutherland came free, but Donnell Altman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Donnell Altman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Elmira booed when Creighton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentin Sutherland didn't get a good kick on the ball. Noble Ashby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
