Maynard Michaud tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Elmira's goal looked a bit too open when Wilber Knight came free, but Donnell Altman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Noble Ashby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Maynard Michaud tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alonso Mack had several of the Ayr's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 36 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Maynard Michaud as he didn't even see the shot coming. Cristopher Li fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donnell Altman having to interfere. If Alonso Mack had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Noble Ashby could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Maynard Michaud made a huge save.

The wind increased when Alonso Mack made the kick off in the second half. Ayr's Maynard Michaud played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alonso Mack in the 55th minute of play. The Elmira fans' excitement grew in the 56th match minute when Elmira's Alonso Mack looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Noble Ashby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trinidad Lejeune took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Donnell Altman. Donnell Altman dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wilber Knight during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 65th minute, Wilber Knight hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trinidad Lejeune fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donnell Altman having to interfere. In the 70th minute, Cristopher Li ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Donnell Altman was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. If Noble Ashby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute Alonso Mack shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maynard Michaud saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 82nd minute, Noble Ashby got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alonso Mack sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Alonso Mack's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Maynard Michaud was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alonso Mack in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maynard Michaud saved Ayr from getting behind. 96 minutes into the game, Elmira's Alonso Mack nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Maynard Michaud made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Elmira's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
