Walker Barker made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eliseo DuLin in the 8th minute. Vince Jarrell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Freeman Boyer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Eliseo DuLin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marty Wang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Walker Barker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, Gambo's goal looked a bit too open when Freeman Boyer came free, but Vince Jarrell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Eliseo DuLin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Freeman Boyer couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marty Wang to make the kick off. Vincent Rivard's late challenge caught a Maitland's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marty Wang in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Walker Barker saved Maitland from getting behind. The supporters of Gambo booed when Maitland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aurèle Owens didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 84 played minutes Maitland got a freekick which was hit by Aurèle Owens. Maitland's Walker Barker played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo DuLin in the 85th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Maitland's Xavier Dowdy got a free kick in the 86th minute. Vince Jarrell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mario Dudley in the 92nd minute of the match. The supporters of Maitland booed when Gambo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Asa Chaney didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Maitland supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Maitland would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
