An unexpected shot in the 18th minute by Mervin Prescott got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mervin Prescott got free with Malcolm Griffith in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The long shot by Freeman Wise in the 23rd minute really tested Malcolm Griffith's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Miguel Peacock hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. 31 minutes into the match, Maymont's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathon Wheeler came free, but Malcolm Griffith reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Malcolm Griffith had in the 36thth minute some difficulties stopping Antione Gaulin's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 38th minute Jonathon Wheeler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malcolm Griffith saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 41 minutes into the game, one of Maymont:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 45th minute, Cesar Mason hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Hal Dickinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jonathon Wheeler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. Maymont's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jonathon Wheeler was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The supporters of Millhaven AFC booed when Maymont was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duane Leon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jonathon Wheeler in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Malcolm Griffith prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
