A collision led to Maymont getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Jerold Correa hit a great ball. Benedict McCabe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurent Lentz having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Debden FC's Reed Yarbrough got a free kick in the 16th minute. Benedict McCabe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Laurent Lentz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Maymont booed when Debden FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stevie Hope didn't get a good kick on the ball. Debden FC's Laurent Lentz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis Winston in the 25th minute of play. Lambert Chavez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Dennis Winston came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Maymont fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Winston couldn't finish the play. In the 32nd match minute, Debden FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lonny Caron to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 34 minutes, Miguel Peacock managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maymont's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Peacock was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Laurent Lentz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Winston in the 41st minute of the match. Benedict McCabe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lambert Chavez got free with Malcolm Griffith in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 1-1 became the score in the 46th minute when Benedict McCabe elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
