If Van Bélanger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Armstrong FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Rubin Vaughan hit a great ball. In the 14th minute, Titus Valenzuela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ferdinand Blanchard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tod Greenwood, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute Tod Greenwood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ferdinand Blanchard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Van Bélanger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 36 played minutes Armstrong FC got a freekick which was hit by Felix England. Van Bélanger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Van Bélanger in the 45th minute of play forced Armstrong FC's goalkeeper Milford Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Brechin were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tod Greenwood to make the kick off. Rubin Vaughan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cecil Crowley got free with Milford Vera in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rubin Vaughan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Ferdinand Blanchard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ferdinand Blanchard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tod Greenwood, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Van Bélanger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Milford Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Felix England hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Armstrong FC's Milford Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Armstrong FC from getting a goal against them. Cecil Crowleys short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Milford Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Tod Greenwood hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Van Bélanger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Milford Vera having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Van Bélanger in the 85th minute of play forced Armstrong FC's goalkeeper Milford Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rubin Vaughan in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ferdinand Blanchard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 93rd minute Rubin Vaughan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ferdinand Blanchard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Milford Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Van Bélanger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Brechin had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
