The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Henri Vertefeuille was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barich's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Furness the free kick. With 6 minutes on the clock, Jake Jamison commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 5 minutes into the game, one of Barich:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Everett Regan shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Royal McGhee charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Royal McGhee the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Furness booed when Barich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Royal McGhee didn't get a good kick on the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Furness's goal looked a bit too open when Loup Osborne came free, but Jay Pouliotte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Millard Swenson's late challenge caught a Barich's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Millard Swenson helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Furness's Millard Swenson got a free kick in the 28th minute. Loup Osborne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jay Pouliotte having to interfere. Orlando Kimball sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 35 minutes into the game, Herb Rutherford was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barich's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Furness the free kick. Herb Rutherford kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After 37 played minutes Barich got a freekick which was hit by Herb Rutherford.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Millard Swenson made a kick off. After having played for 57 minutes, Loup Osborne managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barich's supporters crossed their fingers, but Loup Osborne was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jay Pouliotte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Loup Osborne in the 58th minute. Royal McGhee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Loup Osborne recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Leslie Blair fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Furness's protests and gave Leslie Blair a yellow card for diving instead. Barich's Carl Jackson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Millard Swenson in the 74th minute of play. If Millard Swenson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute Orlando Kimball shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carl Jackson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Millard Swenson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Carl Jackson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Kimball in the 85th minute of play forced Barich's goalkeeper Carl Jackson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Loup Osborne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Barich's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
