After having played for 43 minutes, Loup Osborne managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barich's supporters crossed their fingers, but Loup Osborne was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Oswaldo Villeneuve fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Melocheville's protests and gave Oswaldo Villeneuve a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Barich booed when Melocheville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oswaldo Villeneuve didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Barich's Corin Rudolph, in the 45th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Barich. In the 48th minute Herb Rutherford shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristopher Wynn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Carl Jackson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josh Goguen, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. In the 92nd minute, Loup Osborne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
