The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Etobicoke's Julian Jimenez got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Norman Ritchie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Ponoka AFC booed when Etobicoke was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Julian Jimenez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute, Norman Ritchie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Sirois in the 15th minute of play forced Ponoka AFC's goalkeeper Rudy Plummer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cortez Adair struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Rudy Plummer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Etobicoke. Cortez Adair who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Rudy Plummer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Etobicoke's Clyde Maher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norman Ritchie in the 20th minute of play. Cortez Adair could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Rudy Plummer made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Etobicoke's Ronny Nicholson got a free kick in the 27th minute. With a little luck, Ponoka AFC's Rudy Plummer got control of the ball when Cortez Adair tried to sneak it across the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Etobicoke's Joel Sirois sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rudy Plummer narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jerrold Dodge blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rudy Plummer having to make a save. Rudy Plummer made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Cortez Adair sent off a good shot on target. Clyde Maher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dee Engel in the 40th minute of the match. If Dee Engel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

After 52 minutes of play, Ponoka AFC's Dee Engel made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Clyde Maher was left in no man's land by his defense there! 56 minutes into the game, Bennie Berg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ponoka AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Etobicoke the free kick. After 56 played minutes Ponoka AFC got a freekick which was hit by Bennie Berg. 59 minutes into the match, Ponoka AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Cortez Adair came free, but Rudy Plummer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 59 minutes into the game, Lenny Slater was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ponoka AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Etobicoke the free kick. Norman Ritchie struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Rudy Plummer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Sirois in the 81st minute of play. Dee Engel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Clyde Maher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dee Engel in the 87th minute of play. Norman Ritchie struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Clyde Maher didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ponoka AFC. The Etobicoke supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Ponoka AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Ponoka AFC.
