When Anatole Dubose fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newcastle FC's protests and gave Anatole Dubose a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Newcastle FC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Anatole Dubose hit a great ball. If Emile Dennis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Renaud McLeod fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Harwood FC's protests and gave Renaud McLeod a yellow card for diving instead. Renaud McLeod kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Anatole Dubose reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alfonso Betts. The goal made the score 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darrell Greenwood in the 29th minute of play forced Harwood FC's goalkeeper Alfonso Betts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Alfonso Betts managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when Newcastle FC's Darrell Greenwood fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in Harwood FC's zone, Anatole Dubose stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfonso Betts came out of the goal and Anatole Dubose tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Donald Otero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emile Dennis in the 38th minute of play. Alfonso Betts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anatole Dubose, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Anatole Dubose to strike the kick off in the second half. Harwood FC's Terry Dodd came free and shot a quick shot against goal 53 minutes in the game, fortunately Donald Otero had problems saving as it came toward the left post. A collision led to Harwood FC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Renaud McLeod hit a great ball. Joe Seymour took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alfonso Betts. Harwood FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Newcastle FC booed when Harwood FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Beauchemin didn't get a good kick on the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Harwood FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anatole Dubose came free, but Alfonso Betts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfonso Betts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anatole Dubose in the 80th minute of play. In the 81st match minute, Newcastle FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joe Seymour to maneuver through the defense. After 87 played minutes, Newcastle FC's Virgilio Sheets shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alfonso Betts came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Newcastle FC reached it. If Darrell Greenwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 97 played minutes Harwood FC got a freekick which was hit by Renaud McLeod. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Newcastle FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Harwood FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
