The referee ignored Carden FC's protests and gave Dion Jodion a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Carden FC's Dion Jodion got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 6th match minute, Carden FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucien Gareau to maneuver through the defense. Donny Pike took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 7th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jérôme Newsome. Carden FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Murdochville AFC booed when Carden FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elden Tétrault didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jérôme Newsome was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Donny Pike. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Albert Lundy during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Albert Lundy hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Léon McCormick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carden FC's Jérôme Newsome played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lincoln Muller in the 15th minute of play. If Daren Sizemore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute Léon McCormick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Huey Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Léon McCormick blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Huey Varela having to make a save. The supporters of Murdochville AFC booed when Carden FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eli Willis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Huey Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eli Willis, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Daren Sizemore was extremely unlucky when he, in the 38th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In a very dangerous position, a player in Murdochville AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 46th minute. Penalty! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Eli Willis in the 65thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Huey Varela, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Léon McCormick's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Huey Varela read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Carden FC's Jérôme Newsome played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lincoln Muller in the 87th minute of play. Murdochville AFC's Lincoln Muller got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Murdochville AFC's Daren Sizemore got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 96 minutes into the match, Carden FC's goal looked a bit too open when Daren Sizemore came free, but Jérôme Newsome reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Carden FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Carden FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
