But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daren Sizemore couldn't finish the play. Donnie Key took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albert Lundy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucio Rios came free with the goalkeeper in the 34th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Huey Varela could save by the left post. 35 minutes into the game, Raymundo McDonough recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Huey Varela. Raymundo McDonough showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The audience was convinced that Daren Sizemore's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Donnie Key was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Raymundo McDonough's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Huey Varela read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. Lucio Rios fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Huey Varela having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Donnie Key stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lincoln Muller's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucio Rios in the 56th minute of play forced Murdochville AFC's goalkeeper Huey Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lincoln Mosher charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lincoln Mosher the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lincoln Mosher kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Daren Sizemore who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 65thth minute tested the skills of Donnie Key when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 69 minutes into the match, Shemogue AFC's goalkeeper Donnie Key had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daren Sizemore. The supporters of Murdochville AFC booed when Shemogue AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rusty Bartlett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lincoln Muller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Huey Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raymundo McDonough, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raymundo McDonough in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Huey Varela saved Murdochville AFC from getting behind. Lucio Rios sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute, Cameron Rouleau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 83rd minute Murdochville AFC were awarded a corner. Donny Pike went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Murdochville AFC's corner Donny Pike fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Donnie Key quite easily take care of the ball. If Lincoln Muller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raymundo McDonough received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Huey Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
