The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruno Raines got free with Ian Ford in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind McDame's goalkeeper Ian Ford, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Carmen Rubin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jourdain Willett in the 21st minute of play forced Murdochville FC's goalkeeper Marcellin Bourgeau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Carmen Rubin came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the McDame fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carmen Rubin couldn't finish the play. Marcellin Bourgeau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmen Rubin in the 29th minute of the match. Carmen Rubin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcellin Bourgeau having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Jesse Holloway shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Ford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Murdochville FC's zone, Carmen Rubin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcellin Bourgeau came out of the goal and Carmen Rubin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34th minute Orval Case shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcellin Bourgeau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rdth minute of the game Jesse Holloway who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but McDame's Ian Ford was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jesse Holloway sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carmen Rubin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half McDame were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carmen Rubin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
