The Xeneise fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Xeneise's zone, Houston Ouellet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clyde Trépanier came out of the goal and Houston Ouellet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Xeneise's goalkeeper Clyde Trépanier, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Walton Cornell during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 14 played minutes Xeneise got a freekick which was hit by Walton Cornell. 17 minutes in the game, Valentin Despins fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Clyde Trépanier having to interfere. Adrien Belanger struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Gilles Easley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Xeneise. Houston Ouellet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 29 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Mattawa's Houston Ouellet fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Valentin Despins struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Clyde Trépanier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mattawa. Houston Ouellet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Clyde Trépanier made a huge save. Valentin Despins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41stth minute of the game Valentin Despins who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Xeneise's Clyde Trépanier was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valentin Despins stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Houston Ouellet managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mattawa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Houston Ouellet was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 71st match minute, Mattawa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgar Guevara to maneuver through the defense. Gilles Easley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrien Belanger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Valentin Despins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Valentin Despins in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Clyde Trépanier prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Mattawa's Valentin Despins in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Xeneise's goalie prevented a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valentin Despins in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clyde Trépanier saved Xeneise from getting behind. The Mattawa manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Xeneise to win.
