Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Valère Auclair made the kick off which started today's match. After having played for 3 minutes, Absolon Gonzalez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edzo AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Absolon Gonzalez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Quetico's zone, Anton Ruth stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Columbus Canales came out of the goal and Anton Ruth tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edzo AFC's Derek Edmonds proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Edzo AFC from getting a goal against them. Maynard Boudreaux's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Derek Edmonds read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Edzo AFC's John Blevins got a free kick in the 26th minute. When Absolon Gonzalez came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Edzo AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Absolon Gonzalez couldn't finish the play. If Anton Ruth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Absolon Gonzalez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jefferson Hemphill during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Quetico booed when Edzo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jefferson Hemphill didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Marion Brunelle fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Edzo AFC's protests and gave Marion Brunelle a yellow card for diving instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jonathon Gibson during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Edzo AFC's Jonathon Gibson got a free kick in the 62nd minute. After recieving a nice pass, Quetico's Cornelius Guy tried to score from far away in the 63rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Edzo AFC were awarded a corner in the 70th minute after Quetico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Marion Brunelle took the corner. The corner ended in Marion Brunelle almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Quetico's Columbus Canales did a great save. A collision led to Quetico getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Dorsey Parham hit a great ball. 73 minutes into the match, Edzo AFC's Marion Brunelle broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 83 minutes into the match, Absolon Gonzalez dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Columbus Canales, 0-2. Maynard Boudreaux sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Edzo AFC's zone, Valère Auclair stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Derek Edmonds came out of the goal and Valère Auclair tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Edzo AFC's Abel McRae got a free kick in the 94th minute. After 97 minutes Edzo AFC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Cornelius Guy who took care of the corner kick. Cornelius Guy made a great header on Quetico's corner, it was just that Edzo AFC's Derek Edmonds managed to reach the ball for a save. The Quetico fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Edzo AFC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
