Adolfo Langlais made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jan Mata in the 3rd minute. Lionel Granger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Adolfo Langlais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 7th minute, Gérard Casgrain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Derick Robison managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newtown's supporters rose to their feet, but Derick Robison was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommie Flynn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Adolfo Langlais took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lionel Granger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Derick Robison in the 27th minute of play forced Ripples FC's goalkeeper Tommie Flynn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emanuel Denton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Ryan Gagnon fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ripples FC's protests and gave Ryan Gagnon a yellow card for diving instead. In the 29th minute, Ryan Gagnon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 31 minutes into the match, Newtown's Emanuel Denton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommie Flynn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Derick Robison put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Tommie Flynn. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lionel Granger in the 45th minute of play forced Newtown's goalkeeper Adolfo Langlais to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Emanuel Denton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpected shot in the 59th minute by Derick Robison got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Bobbie Orozco kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. The supporters of Ripples FC booed when Newtown was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bobbie Orozco didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Dieudonné Ludwig fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ripples FC's protests and gave Dieudonné Ludwig a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ripples FC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Dieudonné Ludwig hit a great ball. Newtown's Emanuel Denton managed to work through Ripples FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Emanuel Denton dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Lionel Granger's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adolfo Langlais read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Derick Robison recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 80th minute Derick Robison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommie Flynn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ripples FC's Lionel Granger in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Newtown's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Newtown booed when Ripples FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gérard Casgrain didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Adalberto Davidson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newtown's supporters rose to their feet, but Adalberto Davidson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommie Flynn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Ripples FC's Lionel Granger got a free kick in the 89th minute. When Emanuel Denton came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Newtown fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emanuel Denton couldn't finish the play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Newtown walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
