Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Otto Lake made the kick off which started today's match. Barnabé Barber scored 1-0 in the 4th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gino Poirier, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Barnabé Barber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gino Poirier having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Justin Lavoie managed to get in a good position for a shot. Erwood AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Justin Lavoie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Peter Ashley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Otto Lake received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gino Poirier came out and tried to block the shot, but Otto Lake slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 18th minute. Peter Ashley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eldon McCracken, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Erwood AFC's goalkeeper Gino Poirier, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Patricia's Peter Ashley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Justin Lavoie in the 26th minute of play. It was a penalty for Erwood AFC! The goalkeeper, Gino Poirier, was totally fooled by Patricia's Marcel Garland, who 37 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Barnabé Barber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Gino Poirier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Erwood AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Otto Lake came free, but Gino Poirier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Erwood AFC's zone, Barnabé Barber stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gino Poirier came out of the goal and Barnabé Barber tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 47th match minute, Erwood AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicodème Duclos to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Justin Lavoie to make the kick off. Erwood AFC's Gino Poirier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Quinn Levine in the 53rd minute of play. Justin Lavoie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Peter Ashley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gino Poirier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Otto Lake, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. The supporters of Patricia booed when Erwood AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justin Lavoie didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 68 minutes of play, Patricia's Otto Lake made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gino Poirier was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gino Poirier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otto Lake in the 80th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Patricia's goalkeeper Peter Ashley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eldon McCracken. When Patricia's Barnabé Barber in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Erwood AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Justin Lavoie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Peter Ashley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. Roger Comer hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. If Justin Lavoie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erwood AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
