Match Report

Patricia
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0)
It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Dick Dennis kicked off to start the match. Barnabé Barber recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Otto Lake charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Otto Lake the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience was convinced that Dick Dennis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Peter Ashley was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. The supporters of Patricia booed when Mayne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kristofer Howard didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute of the match Marcel Garland shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Homer Paré showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Barnabé Barber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Barnabé Barber had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Homer Paré. Mayne's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Barnabé Barber was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Otto Lake fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Homer Paré having to interfere. If Barnabé Barber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Donat Irvin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 33 minutes into the match, Patricia's Marcel Garland broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Homer Paré was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Otto Lake showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 34 minute of play. Patricia's Barnabé Barber got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Tracey Bourgeau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Otto Lake made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Otto Lake in the 52nd minute of play forced Mayne's goalkeeper Homer Paré to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Otto Lake came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Patricia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Otto Lake couldn't finish the play. Roger Comer's late challenge caught a Mayne's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roger Comer helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Mayne booed when Patricia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Comer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Otto Lake in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Homer Paré prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Otto Lake sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Roger Comer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Homer Paré tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Patricia's Buck Forbes got a free kick in the 79th minute. In the 81st minute of the match, Tracey Bourgeau got a very nice opportunity to score, but Peter Ashley was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Otto Lake sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Homer Paré took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barnabé Barber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Otto Lake's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Homer Paré was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Tracey Bourgeau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Peter Ashley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Patricia players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
