Donat Irvin kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Mayne defense, Milton Elkins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Homer Paré. The Mayne fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Homer Paré should have stopped the shot. 14 minutes into the match, Mayne's Dick Dennis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eugène Curran narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Edmundo Bray had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Homer Paré showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Milton Elkins in the 21st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Milton Elkins in the 23rd minute of play forced Mayne's goalkeeper Homer Paré to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th match minute, Mayne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donat Irvin to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arlie Shields during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mayne's Tracey Bourgeau got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tracey Bourgeau got in the 29th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Eugène Curran handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Dick Dennis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugène Curran having to interfere. Mayne's Homer Paré played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Bray in the 32nd minute of play. If Dick Dennis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th match minute, Sorel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Val Chavis to maneuver through the defense. 46 minutes into the match, Sorel's goalkeeper Eugène Curran had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jarvis LondeLalonde. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Bray in the 47th minute of play forced Mayne's goalkeeper Homer Paré to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Sorel were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dick Dennis to strike the kick off in the second half. Sorel's Eugène Curran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tracey Bourgeau in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th minute, Milton Elkins made a precise shot to the right of Homer Paré. Mayne's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After having played for 63 minutes, Tracey Bourgeau managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mayne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tracey Bourgeau was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dick Dennis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugène Curran having to interfere. Homer Paré showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmundo Bray in the 77th minute of the match. Mayne's Homer Paré proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Mayne from getting a goal against them. Edmundo Bray who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 84thth minute tested the skills of Homer Paré when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mayne's goalkeeper Homer Paré, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Homer Paré made an important save on a dangerous shot by Milton Elkins in the 89th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Bray in the 91st minute of play forced Mayne's goalkeeper Homer Paré to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Sorel supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sorel would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
