Homer Paré showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Léonard Starnes, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Keewatin's goal looked a bit too open when Tracey Bourgeau came free, but Roy Tabor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jacob Vaillancourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 16th minute of the match Junior Leblanc shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Homer Paré showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Tracey Bourgeau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacob Vaillancourt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Homer Paré made a huge save. In the 22nd minute, Léonard Starnes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 24 minutes, Jacob Vaillancourt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Keewatin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jacob Vaillancourt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Keewatin booed when Mayne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dick Dennis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tracey Bourgeau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Roy Tabor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Dick Dennis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Homer Paré made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Jacob Vaillancourt sent off a good shot on target. Jacob Vaillancourt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Homer Paré having to interfere. Léonard Starnes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Keewatin's goalkeeper Roy Tabor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Keewatin's zone, Tracey Bourgeau stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roy Tabor came out of the goal and Tracey Bourgeau tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Léonard Starnes to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Mayne's zone, Dwain Cyr stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Homer Paré came out of the goal and Dwain Cyr tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Léonard Starnes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Homer Paré having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Léonard Starnes in the 58th minute of play forced Mayne's goalkeeper Homer Paré to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tracey Bourgeau could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Roy Tabor made a huge save. Kristofer Howard's late challenge caught a Keewatin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kristofer Howard helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Mayne getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Kristofer Howard hit a great ball. Elmo Guerra hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the match, Keewatin's Léonard Starnes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Homer Paré narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jacob Vaillancourt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Homer Paré read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Dick Dennis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Keewatin's Roy Tabor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dick Dennis in the 82nd minute of play. Tracey Bourgeau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Roy Tabor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 86 minutes of play, Keewatin's Léonard Starnes made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Homer Paré was left in no man's land by his defense there! 97 minutes into the game, Léonard Starnes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Homer Paré was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mayne's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
