Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Jefferson Wilcox kicked off to start the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bob LondeLalonde in the 10th minute of play forced Markstay's goalkeeper Keenan McHugh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jason Harper received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Merrill Sheppard came out and tried to block the shot, but Jason Harper slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 11th minute. In the 15th minute, Brenton Brandt fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 16th minute, Markstay's Brenton Brandt ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Merrill Sheppard. Merrill Sheppard yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. If Brenton Brandt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 21stth minute of the game Jason Harper who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sointula AFC's Merrill Sheppard was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jason Harper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Merrill Sheppard having to interfere. A collision led to Sointula AFC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Bob LondeLalonde hit a great ball. 27 minutes into the match, Markstay's Jason Harper sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Merrill Sheppard narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Russel Reese charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Russel Reese the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Sointula AFC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Emanuel Escobar hit a great ball. In the 36th match minute, Sointula AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudy Dennison to maneuver through the defense. Jason Harper received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Merrill Sheppard came out and tried to block the shot, but Jason Harper slotted it home off the left post making it 5-0 in the 39th minute. After 43 minutes of play Sointula AFC's Emanuel Escobar was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Sointula AFC's Emanuel Escobar got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Jason Harper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Merrill Sheppard having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jason Harper was the one to do the kick off. Merrill Sheppard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chris Cordova, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Brenton Brandt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 72 minutes, Chris Cordova mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Markstay and the Sointula AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Markstay's Chris Cordova got a free kick in the 72nd minute. In the 73rd minute, Kelley Light sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Markstay's Keenan McHugh didn't even have to move. Carlo Cormier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merrill Sheppard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jason Harper, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Brenton Brandt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Brenton Brandt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Merrill Sheppard having to make a save. Markstay's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
