The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Bernard Roth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Koehler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcel Koehler made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernard Roth in the 6th minute. Clark McCracken kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Jean Gallegos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stan Edwards, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcel Koehler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruce Guthrie in the 15th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Bruce Guthrie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcel Koehler was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. If Bruce Guthrie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clark McCracken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Koehler having to interfere. Bill McLain hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. The supporters of Oakville Oaks booed when Lancaster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kelvin McCarty didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcel Koehler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernard Roth, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Bernard Roth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Marcel Koehler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clark McCracken's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcel Koehler read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Lancaster's zone, Bill McLain stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcel Koehler came out of the goal and Bill McLain tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcel Koehler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruce Guthrie in the 76th minute of play. Bill McLain struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Marcel Koehler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oakville Oaks. Clark McCracken received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Marcel Koehler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
