After a defensive mix-up in Whitkow's zone, Troy Hawk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaston Harquin came out of the goal and Troy Hawk tried to chip the ball over his head. After a rather tough play, Malton's Israel Fenton got a free kick in the 27th minute. Darryl Daley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Britt Duffy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Malton's Britt Duffy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Harquin in the 40th minute of play. After 43 played minutes, Whitkow's Olen Spencer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Britt Duffy came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. The wind increased when Troy Hawk made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Whitkow booed when Malton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Malton's goalkeeper Britt Duffy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 59 minutes, Darryl Daley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Whitkow's supporters crossed their fingers, but Darryl Daley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dalton Graves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaston Harquin having to interfere. A collision led to Malton getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Sal Schafer hit a great ball. Mariano Harquin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
