Denis Lebel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Clyde Champion sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ambrose Valle in the 16th minute of play forced Holden AFC's goalkeeper Denis Lebel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Whycocomagh AFC's Hugh Lange played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Porfirio Carr in the 18th minute of play. The supporters of Whycocomagh AFC booed when Holden AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gail Dubois didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Whycocomagh AFC's Barnabé Lowry tried to score from far away in the 23rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Ambrose Valle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Clyde Champion got free with Denis Lebel in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ambrose Valle in the 35th minute of play forced Holden AFC's goalkeeper Denis Lebel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Shannon Webster kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Ambrose Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Whycocomagh AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ambrose Valle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Denis Lebel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clyde Champion fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Lebel having to interfere. Denis Lebel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ambrose Valle in the 43rd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Holden AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ambrose Valle came free, but Denis Lebel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gail Dubois's late challenge caught a Whycocomagh AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gail Dubois helped the player get up and apologised. Gail Dubois hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Shawn Ladner was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute of the match Holden AFC got a corner. Whycocomagh AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tuan Huffman ran over to the corner to take the kick. Porfirio Carr's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 57thth minute, Hugh Lange skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Calvin Healy kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Porfirio Carr fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugh Lange having to interfere. After 62 played minutes Whycocomagh AFC got a freekick which was hit by Eddie Lereau. When Gail Dubois was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 63 minutes had been played. In the 63rd match minute, Holden AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gail Dubois to maneuver through the defense. In the 66th minute Ambrose Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denis Lebel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Porfirio Carr sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Shawn Ladner fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Holden AFC's protests and gave Shawn Ladner a yellow card for diving instead. In the 71st match minute, Holden AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shawn Ladner to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Whycocomagh AFC's zone, Porfirio Carr stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hugh Lange came out of the goal and Porfirio Carr tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ambrose Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Lebel having to interfere. Denis Lebel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herbert Roark, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Holden AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
