Chester Witt charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chester Witt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 3rd minute, Chester Witt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, Holden AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jefferey Lefebvre came free, but Denis Lebel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th minute of the match, Shawn Ladner tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Merlin Jetté saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The supporters of Vandry AFC booed when Holden AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Issac Coffman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Denis Lebel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaud Haywood, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Arnaud Haywood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Vandry AFC's Merlin Jetté got control of the ball when Porfirio Carr tried to sneak it across the goal line. Arnaud Haywood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Denis Lebel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnaud Haywood's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Denis Lebel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Denis Lebel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaud Haywood, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 48th play minute Porfirio Carr came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Merlin Jetté. 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Shawn Ladner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Merlin Jetté having to make a save. Elbert McCann hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. 66 minutes into the game, Gail Dubois was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Holden AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vandry AFC the free kick. In the 67th match minute, Holden AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gail Dubois to maneuver through the defense. Urbain Bolden took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 67th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Denis Lebel. Holden AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Vandry AFC's zone, Gail Dubois stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Merlin Jetté came out of the goal and Gail Dubois tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Porfirio Carr struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Merlin Jetté didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Holden AFC. In the 77th minute Arnaud Haywood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denis Lebel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Holden AFC's zone, Shannon Kirkpatrick stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Denis Lebel came out of the goal and Shannon Kirkpatrick tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With 85 minutes on the clock, Joachim Riquier commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 84 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Vandry AFC! After a defensive mix-up in Vandry AFC's zone, Porfirio Carr stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Merlin Jetté came out of the goal and Porfirio Carr tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
